Markers</H1>
<p CLASS="Head">Markers are objects that may be associated with Workbench resources.&nbsp;
There are many uses of markers in the Workbench.&nbsp; The three main uses of
markers in the Workbench are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Tasks</li>
<li>Problems</li>
<li>Bookmarks</li>
</ul>
<p CLASS="Head">Markers are shown in a marker view (Tasks, Problems or Bookmark
view) or on the marker bar in the editor area.</p>
<p CLASS="Head">The following sections give more detail on each of these marker
types. </p>

Tasks</h2>
<P CLASS="Para"> A task marker represents a work item. There are two kinds of
tasks: </P>
<UL CLASS="UnorderedList">
<LI CLASS="Item"> Automatically-generated information associated with the
resource</LI>
<LI CLASS="Item"> User specified tasks that may or may not be associated with
a resource</LI>
</UL>
<p>Both of these task types appear in the Tasks view.</p>

Problems</h2>
<P CLASS="Para" Label=Type> Problem markers represent invalid states and are
categorized as follows..</P>

<DIV CLASS="Subtopic"> <strong>Errors</strong>: Error markers are often used
to indicate the source location of syntax or compilation errors.</DIV>
</li>
<li>
<DIV CLASS="Subtopic"> <strong>Warnings</strong>: Warning markers indicate
the source location of, for example, compilation warnings.</DIV>
</li>
<li>
<DIV CLASS="Subtopic"> <strong>Information</strong>: Information markers indicate
the source location of information only tasks.</DIV>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Problems are shown in the Problems view. </p>

Bookmarks</h2>
<P CLASS="Para" Label=Type> Bookmarks place an anchor either at a specific line
in a resource or on the resource itself. They are shown in the Bookmarks view.</P>
