This November, it will be ten years since IBM first released Eclipse under an open-source license. A lot of great things have happened in those years, so             we have reason to celebrate.</p>            <p>EclipseCon Europe will kick off our 10th birthday celebrations. We will, of course, have a party, a cake, and lots of fun. We are thrilled to have John Swainson, the IBM executive who made the decision to open source Eclipse,             present a retrospective on the ten years of Eclipse and the considerations involved in creating Eclipse as an open-source project.</p>		    <p>Ten years of Eclipse has meant ten years of great community, technology, and friendships.
