| <p>There is also information near the bottom of this page about |
| cleaning up old OpenMPI things between PTP invocations. |
| <p>We have had several questions about building PTP from the |
| CVS source. If you are downloading PTP from the |
| <a href="../downloads.html">downloads</a> site, then stop reading, |
| you don't need this. If, however, you want or need the latest |
| PTP from CVS and want to build it yourself, keep reading. |
| |

| <li>Download and build OpenMPI: See |
| <a href="../faq.html#faq6">FAQ #6</a>. Be sure |
| to build <code>--with-devel-headers</code>. |
| <p> |
| <li>Set up to get to eclipse.org CVS via Eclipse. |
| <br>Create a new CVS repository location: |
| <ul> |
| <li>Connection type: pserver</li> |
| <li>User: anonymous</li> |
| <li>Password: (leave blank)</li> |
| <li> Host: dev.eclipse.org</li> |
| <li> Repository path: /cvsroot/tools |
| <li>Use default port |

| <p>Now open up org.eclipse.ptp under /cvsroot/tools. |

| <li>Build orte_server (Open Run Time Environment server): |

| <li> Make sure you have the following PTP projects from CVS, in org.eclipse.ptp, under 'core' folder |

| <li><code>org.eclipse.ptp.orte.OS.ARCH</code> - to match your operating system and |
| architecture, e.g. org.eclipse.ptp.orte.linux.x86 |
| <li><code>org.eclipse.ptp.proxy</code> |
| <li><code>org.eclipse.ptp.utils</code> |
| <br>(get the others that are not other platforms too, if you want. |
| You will need them later to build the Eclipse plug-ins.) |

| <li> Create and run an external command for 'configure' in the directory |
| org.eclipse.ptp.orte (or change to this directory and run './configure' |
| manually). This will configure all three directories. |

| <li> Run the 'all' make target for org.eclipse.ptp.orte (or change to this |
| directory and run 'make all' manually). This will build the proxy and utils |
| libraries and the orte_server executable. |
| |
| <li> Create and run an external command for 'INSTALL' in the directory |
| org.eclipse.ptp.orte (or change to this directory and run './INSTALL' |
| manually). This will copy the executable to the appropriate location in |
| org.eclipse.ptp.orte.OS.ARCH. |
| <br><b>Note:</b> you will probably have to make it |
| executable e.g. chmod +x INSTALL |

| Until we resolve some issues with OpenMPI, we suggest doing the |
| following before each subsequent invocation of PTP, to kill old ompi things |
| hanging around: |
