| <p>For added safety when upgrading the product or installing new features, save |
| a snapshot of the current configuration beforehand. This makes it easy to return |
| to a known configuration if the new or updated features prove unsatisfactory, |
| and creates a permanent record of configurations that you have been using. To |
| save the current configuration: |

| <li>Open the main update manager by clicking <b>Help > Software Updates > |
| Update Manager</b>. This opens the Install/Update perspective.</li> |
| <li>In the Install Configuration view, expand the Configuration History item |
| and select the most recent entry (the top one). Click <b>Save</b> on the |
| context menu.</li> |
| <li>Expand the Saved Configurations item in the same view to see the entry for |
| the newly saved configuration. Expanding the saved configuration shows the |
| locations of the features.</li> |
| <li>To change the name of this saved configuration to something recognizable, |
| select the saved configuration and click <b>Properties</b> on the context |
| menu.</li> |
| <li>In the property dialog that opens, change the Configuration Name of the |
| Preserved Configuration property to something more appropriate, like |
| "Stable".</li> |
| <li>Click <b>OK</b> to have the name change take effect.</li> |

| <p>Unlike the entries in the Configuration History (a queue of limited length), |
| saved configuration entries are retained indefinitely and go away only when |
| explicitly removed (<b>Remove</b> on the saved configuration's context menu). |
