It has been an honor to serve on the Board of the Eclipse Foundation for the past 3 years, especially as the only female representative and I hope to continue to do so. While the Eclipse IDE is a major project of the Eclipse foundation, I've been focusing on broadening the reputation and brand of the Eclipse Foundation into other technology areas such as AI and Edge Computing. Last year, I drove an initiative to successfully form, recruit and launch the Eclipse Edge Native Working Group. With a founding group of Intel, Siemens, Bosch, Ad-Link, Huawei, Edgeworx, Eurotech, Kynetics and more, I'm happy to say that it's made a mark with other open-source ecosystems and given the Eclipse Foundation greater credibility in the edge and IOT space.

With this mission, Eclipse and the Edge Native Working Group has been establishing thought-leadership by publishing well-read and received papers as well as being invited to partcipate and collaborate with the CNCF's Kubernetes IoT Edge Working Group. I would like to continute to build on this great momentum by serving another year as a Sustaining Member representative on the Eclipse Board of Directors. I will continue to focus on advancement through the following efforts:

Industry Leadership
Edge Computing is one of the fastest growing technology disciplines. Having started largely with IoT there is major room for expansion with AI and Computer vision at the edge. The Eclipse Foundation has already started establishing its position as a leader with the Eclipse Edge Native Working Group. We not only have marquee companies standing alongside Eclipse in the Edge Computing space, but they are committing developers and resources to expand our projects.

Open Source Collaboration
In some disciplines, Open Source projects and organizations have had limited collaboration. Bringing projects together could benefit all by not only bringing together different technologies to enable people to solve hard problems as well as expanding the user base for all. Eclipse has been instrumental in spearheading collaborative efforts. I look forward continuing that effort and leveraging it to grow the foundation and visibility of our amazing projects. We have already made major strides by contributing with the CNCF and see more opportunities to work together with the Linux Foundation's LF Edge, no one project is going to solve the entire discipline, collaboration benefits us all.

Developers
Developers are the life blood of all organizations today because companies now succeed or fail based on the quality of their technology. Developers have a unique and growing voice in companies and are increasingly turning to the Open Source to solve problems, understanding vendor lock-in is not the way of the future. The Eclipse Foundation has pioneered a path forwad by focusing on developers and the developer expreience. It is why Edgeworx chose to bring our project ioFog to Eclipse over anyhwere else and we are seeing more and more developers coming to the Eclipse Foundation because of their strength and leadership in the Edge. This in turn brings in more projects and companies who want to play a bigger role. Because of this, Edgeworx is looking to contribute a new project to the Eclipse Foundation this year that comes with a large, existing developer community.

Awareness & Adoption
In the past I have talked about how the Eclipse Foundation has primarily been known for the Java/Eclipse IDE. While we want to focus on our leadership there, over the past few years I have seen a shift in the way Eclipse is seen by the broader tech community. There is still much more work to be done to build on those successes. A lot of this has been driven by the working groups and the value these focused groups bring. I believe increasing awareness of our industry leadership and focus on developers will lead to more projects choosing Eclipse as a home. If elected, I will continue to serve as a direct channel between the organization and the companies to help grow awareness and adoption.

Membership
Many companies that I work with as partners, vendors, and customers are good candidates for first-time Eclipse Foundation membership but are not aware of the benefits of membership and the importance of supporting the organization. I see opportunities to expand membership, particularly through the working groups, and our move to Europe. There is a massive opportunity for the Eclipse Foundation to fill a vacuum there and I hope to part of the effort to continued growth.
