I have been working with Eclipse technologies for over 15 years and for 10 years I've made Eclipse open source my business. |
| Today I am a vocal community member and evangelist for open source. Now I am running for a board position because |
| I want to, at the highest level, |
| foster the right environment for open, sustainable innovation in the current fast paced tech climate. |
| Or to put it another way: Let's work together and get paid to build open source products that are so utterly |
| amazing that others want to join in and get paid to build open source products that are so utterly amazing that others |
| want to join in. Does that count as a vision? I really hope so because I would like to have a vision that is recursive.
| |
If elected, I would focus on growth of the Eclipse ecosystem, particularly in these 3 areas:
| |
Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
I was meaning to ask you: does Kichwa Coders experiences any benefits from being an |
| Eclipse Solutions Member other than the purely intangible benefits of association with the |
| Eclipse Foundation? I answer questions like this all the time from my clients and partner |
| companies. I want to propose initiatives to strengthen the position of existing SME members and make |
| membership more attractive for those considering it.
| |
| |
Science Working Group
Being a founding member of the Science Working Group and being heavily involved in one of its |
| flagship projects, I am keen to keep the momentum going. I want to raise awareness at board level of the |
| huge benefits of the group to the ecosystem, advocate for changes that facilitate growth and promote |
| collaboration with other working groups. Optimizations for one working group often end up being beneficial for other working groups as well.
| |
| |
Diversity
I would like to lead the board in supporting the diversity initiatives of the Eclipse Foundation and |
| the community at large so we can grow in new ways, include more contributors and committers from |
| underrepresented groups, and benefit from the innovation that comes with more diverse thoughts around the table.
