At Renesas we use the Eclipse platform and the C/C++ Development Toolkit for our embedded software IDE named e2 studio. As a company we are very much reliant on the projects and technology that are being developed within the Eclipse projects.

The Eclipse platform provides us with a superb starting point for our product and looking forward, we want to contribute to the community to maintain and improve this into the future. Joining the Eclipse board would allow me to contribute from a commercial product perspective and ensure I can represent the many companies using Eclipse and the C/C++ Development Toolkit in this way.

I am also a current strategic member representative on the Eclipse IDE Working Group. Participating in this working group has shown me that there is a willing desire to improve the platform now and in the future. Personally, I find this initiative exciting and rewarding and I hope we can see the results of this within the platform and other associated projects. With this in mind I hope joining the Eclipse board would enable me to push forwards the great work of the Eclipse IDE Working group and improve visibility of our efforts in this area.

As a consumer of the platform building a commercial product, I would like to focus on these goals:

Ensure the future of the Eclipse IDE is solid and viable - both from a platform and infrastructure viewpoint

Focus on Eclipse user experience - improve the UI and performance of the platform. Enable the Eclipse IDE to compete with other platforms in this space

Help expand the contributing user base to ensure long term success (stimulate the community to create new members and investments)

In addition, Renesas also have a long term interest in the Cloud Tools area. We already have requirements in this area and we will look to be a long term partner to these projects. The Eclipse projects are fundamental to our current and future Renesas engineering projects and joining the Eclipse Board is a natural next step to help us achieve our goals.

Finally, Renesas as a company have many different projects focusing on a wide spectrum of domains and technologies, such as IOT, Automotive Computer Vision, A.I, RTOS, etc. I hope the experience, knowledge and expertise we can bring from Renesas can be utilized in many Eclipse projects.
