Action Items From Last Week

ACTION ITEM [Bjorn] - Contact Tyler and/or Sri with these decisions - Contacted.

ACTION ITEM [Bjorn] - look into an all-in-one zip file solution - Proposal
circulated.

ACTION ITEM [Bjorn] - work with the project leads and Janet to schedule a
common release review the week of May 21st and to sequence the IP reviews so
that they all get done - Review scheduled for May 26th, 8am PT, 11am ET.

Discussion of RC1 Status

Everyone seems to be good to go on the RC1. The Platform is making a patch to
fix a bug for WTP. Some projects are waiting for the EMF RC1. CDT is going to
use the same bits as for RC0 due to some bugs they found in their project. DTP
has one bug they are fixing but plan to be done on time. TPTP will have bits by
tomorrow or, in the worst case, by Friday. (Sri also clarified last week's email
discussion that TPTP will have bits for every Callisto RC.)

Mega Release Review and IP Issues

We scheduled a mega Release Review for all ten Callisto projects for May
26th, 8am PT, 11am ET. We want to try to keep this release review to one hour
and thus each project will have a limited opportunity to speak. (Actually, each
project can have as many slides as it wants, especially about new features and
community development and all, but only a limited time slot (5 minutes?) to
present them.) The essential slides will be about new features, IP cleanliness,
and community diversity.

ACTION ITEM [Bjorn] - prepare a sample slide deck with the essential slides
and distribute to the project leads

To ensure that all the legal clearances are accomplished for the May 26th
Release Review, the Callisto projects must:

Submit all Contribution Questionnaires by April 25th (via the
web form).

Submit all IP Logs and About files by May 12th (to license@eclipse.org)

All-In-One Download Proposal

Bjorn wrote up a
proposal for Eclipse member companies to solve our Callisto all-in-one
download problem. In spite of only a couple hours notice, a few people read it
and thought it was a good idea. Everyone else agreed to either read it and
provide comments by Friday or else to "forever hold their
peace".

ACTION ITEM [Everyone] - read and comment on, if desired, the
all-in-one proposal by Friday.

Great Bugs Contest

We announced our first winner; explained the
revised procedure (the EMO does more of the work; everyone liked that) and
the revised prizes (prizes now for developers too); and encouraged everyone to
encourage their teams to find great bugs.

Signing Bundles

Kevin reported back on his action item from the last face-to-face regarding
signing bundles. The Platform team tried this, discovered some severe startup
performance problems that were easy enough to fix, but given the late date and
the ramp down toward the Callisto release, recommends against switching to
signing. The team agrees that the risk is too high to sign bundles for Callisto.

Pack 200

Kevin reports that the Pack
200 specification/mechanism reduces the Eclipse jars in half. The Platform
team has been experimenting with this and had built some tools. He will send an
email to the cross projects list by Friday with instructions and explanations.
At next week's call, we will discuss whether to add a Callisto rule that
projects must use Pack 200 or that projects should use Pack 200.

ACTION ITEM [Kevin] - by Friday, send out the information on Pack 200.

ACTION ITEM [Everyone] - by next Wednesday, evaluate Pack 200.

Notifications of Release Candidates

Everyone agreed to send email to the cross-projects-issues-dev@ mailing
list when their release candidates are ready.

Everyone also agreed to either in that same email, or in a second email,
to notify cross-projects-issues-dev@ when the features.xml in the Callisto
CVS directory is ready.

Bjorn will monitor all this and will notify Nathan at the Foundation when
the release candidate is ready to be announced as "Ready for
Testing" on the eclipse.org home page.
